Camp Demigod Description
Excellent literature, especially from the sci-fi and fantasy realms, leads to discovery of the self and externally, enhances critical and design thinking, innovation, fosters empathy and serves as a foundation in unlocking the mysteries of the world in which we live.”
- Dr. Steven Lee Berman, Founder DIGIVATIONS CAMP DEMIGOD INSTITUTE
BRIEF BACKGROUND & STAFF RECRUITMENT:
Our focus is directed to onboarding students for one or more of our DIGIVATIONS’ NASA award winning educational non-profits featuring our STEM+ARTS+HUMANITIES+KINESTHETIC curriculum taught to over 5,000 K-25 students and 2,000 educators and young professionals through our community and professional development programs.
Specifically, our 501(c)(3) educational non-profit, DIGIVATIONS INSTITUTE’s World renown Innovation & Literary CAMP DEMIGOD to be held at Cornell University and UCLA, campdemigod.org, harrypottercamps.org, camphalf-blood.org, and campfandom.org, is seeking one or more talented students to work with the founders, Dr. Steven Lee Berman and Anne Deane Berman, Ph.D. and their professional team including their son Jacob, the creative spirit and founder of Camp Half-Blood.
DIGIVATIONS is a camp and academy fusion where literary and media themes serve as the key vehicle for campers/students through which they learn about Ancient Cultures, Languages & Greece, Anthropology, Ethnographics, the Arts including aural (music & composition & sound design) & visual (drawing and painting), Drama & Theatre including play writing, costuming, direction & production, Innovation & STEM subjects encompassing Advanced Computing, AI/VR, Biology, Biomimicry and Biotechnology, Commercial Space & Space Exploration, Design Thinking, Genetics, Intelligent Homes, Cities, Infrastructure and Transportation, Medicine, Nanotechnology, Newtons Laws, Einstein’s Theories and Quantum Physics, Sustainability and Model UN & the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goal concepts, and a plethora more topics and subjects.
As part of the movement aspect, students engage in archery, martial arts, dance, field sports, gymnastics & theatrical combat as well as role playing. They also engage in creative writing, learn mythology and plan and participate in quests (e.g. Camp Half-Blood & Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson and other Series). They engage in adventures through the Magical World of Harry Potter where they also learn about chemistry making potions and transverse platform 9 3/4 through quantum theories such as entanglement and superposition and play a game or two of wizards chess.
For DIGIVATIONS summer programs, we are interested in high school, university (ideally co-op) and graduate students who have a passion for mentoring, teaching and working with students ages 12-17. Possessing experience in any of the above subject matter with a background in STEM including biology, chemistry, genetics, engineering (electrical, computer, chemical, civil, materials), nanotechnology, math, medicine, physics, and technology (computer science) is preferable.
As Founders, we are proud of having established pathways which enable children and youth to develop and mature from participating as campers, to active contributors and young leaders in their domains of interest (art, science and technology prototypes, sports, and theatre, among others) to counselors-in-training, counselors, young scholars, faculty and staff. Through this growth and development they have realized engaged and happy lives leading them to their own successful careers.
Is DIGIVATIONS INSTITUTE & XGENS Right For YOU? (Counselors/Young Scholars):
At DIGIVATIONS, we nurture the development of all CITs and campers by helping them build strong relationships, strengthen self-confidence and skills, and take on new challenges. To accomplish these goals, we rely on a staff of skilled, motivated women and men who enjoy children and the camp environment. To help you evaluate if this opportunity may be right for you, we provide the following information:
- Counselors work very closely with many other people, especially children, and must be able to constantly manage and juggle the many different emotions, thoughts, and opinions that are expressed;
- Counselors work long hours with breaks throughout the day. Because most of our staff members live with campers, they actually are working or are on-call 24 hours a day. The most successful counselors and faculty are those who have a strong work ethic, know when to ask for help and time off;
- We have a drug-free, alcohol-free and non-smoking work environment with a zero-tolerance policy. If you want to work at Camp Demigod, it is important that this fits your lifestyle;
- Inappropriate verbal and physical behavior will not be tolerated;
- Cell phone use for CITs is limited to no more than 2 hours per day, only in the Faculty/Staff Lounge or in your single dorm room. No electronics are allowed in front of the students.
